Time to Take Control of Your Business
As business consultants we regularly meet with small business owners on a regular basis who are ready to take their business to the next level but have so often found themselves in a position of uncertainty.
Running your own business brings you a certain level of confidence but taking the next step towards further business growth can seem like a daunting task.
In order to invoke positive change you have to dream bigger, do the hard work, lay the foundations and then take steps to make it happen.
Here’s some tricks and tools which you can use to drive your business forward.
Anyone can set goals, what you need are some SMART goals.
In order to stay on top of your game you must ensure you’re working to some solid goals and those goals have a structure and purpose.
Using the SMART goal planning structure you can lay out the goals you want to achieve, implement how you’re going to achieve them, keep track on your progress and hold yourself accountable.
If you don’t know where you’re going, how will you know if you’ve arrived?
Plan your goals using the SMART structure and then set up detailed reminders in your schedule planner to provide you with regular prompts to check your progress and monitor your results.
Whenever you make big changes of course you will need to be flexible and ready to make tweaks but stay true to your greatest goal and you cannot fail to boost your business growth.
Keep your goals down to a few, don’t overload yourself because the more you take on the bigger it will all seem and you don’t need that amount of pressure on you.
If doing the goal planning isn’t your forte then you may like to consider working with a colleague, mentor or business consultant on this. Sometimes it is smarter to ask for help.
Time Management is oh so important!
Once you have some solid goals to take your business to the next level you want to ensure you stick to these and manage your time well. If you get too caught up in the day to day running of your business then it’s progress can often suffer.
As the saying goes, you need to work ON your business more than you work IN your business.
Some people work better with fluidity but in one form or another everyone needs some structure in their lives. Your goals are like milestone markers to show you how far you’ve come and how far you have to go.
When you schedule measurable timelines for your goals then you have full control.
Ask for help and get support. You don’t have to do all of this alone.
There are many ways in which you can utilise others to help move your business forward.
Whether that is relying on your wife, boyfriend or partner to take care of a little more ‘home’ stuff that gets in the way. Working with a business mentor to help give you the support and guidance you need to grow. Taking on a business consultant that can help you carve out a clear path for your business and work with you as you take new steps.
No matter how you get there; it’s time to take control of your business and take it to the next level of success.
